Sanskrit for Yoga Teachers
July 28, 2021 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm EDT

Using Sanskrit terminology in a yoga class can be intimidating for many yoga teachers who aren’t familiar with the ancient language. The good new is, it doesn’t have to be!
This workshop for yoga teachers will review the alphabet and correct pronunciation of the sounds to help yoga teachers with their Sanskrit pronunciation. Through a combination of physical movements, word exercises, and handouts, yoga teachers will be able to become more familiar with the deep vibration of Sanskrit as it effects prana. In this workshop you will learn:
- brief history of Sanskrit and how it is interwoven with yoga
- proper pronunciation of many common words and poses used in yoga classes
- breakdown of the common pose names to help with identifying the pose in English
- why using the Sanskrit words is useful
Investment: $65 before July 20/$80 after
Part of this workshop will be putting together a short sequence and teaching it to the group with an effort to use Sanskrit. Don’t worry about it being perfect, it is meant to help get the first use of the words out of the way so it becomes simpler over time. All things take practice, and you are literally learning a new language and trying verbalize it to others.
This workshop is worth 3 CEUs with Yoga Alliance for registered yoga teachers. The recording from this workshop will be available for 30 days.
Cancellation/Refunds: No refunds for any cancellations because the recordings will be available. Cancellations received 7 days prior to the workshop date may transfer to another workshop and receive access to the recordings for the new workshop.
