Optional Eagle’s Nest and Salt Mine Tour Add-On – $86
This full day excursion to Berchtesgaden will offer you spectacular views of the Alps and a look into history. You’ll also get to move through an old salt mine on the slides through the cave.
Eagle’s Nest: Between 1933 and 1945, it was the second most important center of power of the Nazi dictatorship, after Berlin, where decisions were made about the war. Built in 1937/38, the Tea House was intended to serve as place of political representation, away from public view, and leave guests awestruck. After the bus ride up a steep mountain road, a passageway leads through a tunnel to an elevator which then carries guests up about 124 meters directly into the Tea House. There, you are greeted by a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountain ranges. Since 1952, the building has been used as a mountain guesthouse and has become a popular excursion destination. The original construction has largely been preserved.
Salt Mine: Experience, mysticism, fascination at the Berchtesgaden Salt Mine in a modern adventure and a popular destination in Bavaria. An impressive journey into the world of salt awaits you in the depths of the mountain. What would a show mine be without a miner’s slide? There are two of them here in the Berchtesgaden salt mine. The first slide descends around 34 metres into the Kaiser Franz sink work. The second slide takes you directly to the sparkling mirror lake and is 40 metres long. Miners’ slides used to be used by miners to get quickly to the lower levels of the mine. So the slides are not to be compared with conventional amusement park slides.
This full day tour will take place on August 29.
Cancellation/Refunds: No refunds as tickets are pre-purchased. If retreat is canceled, full refunds will be made. Read the full terms for the trip.
