Ayurveda for Yoga Teachers Teacher Training

November 14, 2025 - November 16, 2025
Five Elements Flow Yoga Series with Angelina Fox, ERYT500, YACEP, Ayurveda Health Counselor in Washington DC and Northern Virginia Areas

Ayurveda, the “Science of Life, ” is the philosophical system interlinked with yoga practices to provide an understanding of the physical world and how we interact with it. Ayurveda is the practice of longevity and applying it’s philosophical principles of the five elements and the three doshas to every day life for better wellbeing and self-care. Understanding Ayurveda can offer yoga teachers a unique lens on asana practice, pranayama, and meditation.

An overview of Smkhya philosophy will offer students a more in-depth understanding of the three doshas (constitutions), how the present as archetypes in the world, and practices that help work toward a state of balance. These same principles will be applied to asana and other yogic practices to present students with multiple tools for self-care.

We will explore the principles of prana, tejas, and ojas and how they are interwoven with Ayurvedic principles, the doshas, and overall wellbeing. Practices to help bring equilibrium will be reviewed and practiced to ascertain understanding of practical application of Ayurvedic principles for every day life and explore daily, seasonal, and other routines.

An Ayurvedic view of nutrition, ahara, will be reviewed to allow students to apply the principles of Ayurveda to what and how they choose to eat. A focus on agni, the digestive fire, and ama, toxins, will offer insight into a connection between western nutrition and Ayurveda.
